I bet all Houstonians can sense that there’s something extra special in the air right now. There’s a sense of tradition, history and excitement brewing, and that’s because the 81st Annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officially kicks off tomorrow. The 2013 Rodeo season will officially begin on Thursday afternoon with the beloved “World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest” at Reliant Park. (Known more simply to locals as the “Cook Off.”) The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is the world’s largest livestock show and richest regular-season rodeo. For more than 80 years, it’s been attracting folks from all over the country to revel in its glory.
Nothing is better than Rodeo season, and this year, it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. It can be a hassle actually getting out to the Rodeo, and that’s why the Armadillo Palace is now staying open 7 days a week during the Rodeo season. They have also partnered with Houston’s only jitney, The Wave, to bus Armadillo Palace patrons to and from Reliant Stadium every day during the Rodeo: from Thursday, February 21 to Sunday, March 17.
For only a $20 round trip, Rodeo-goers can start and end the day celebrating at the ‘Dillo. We’re offering $10 buckets of beer for Wave riders, and have brought in a new dance floor that’s perfect for dancing the night away. We’re offering a slew of live shows every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, including some of the best Texas acts the Armadillo Palace has ever seen, including Two Tons of Steel, Jesse Dayton, Gary P. Nunn, Dale Watson and more.
The Armadillo Palace is the perfect pre-party and late-night spot for the Rodeo. If you’re interested in joining us at the ‘Dillo to ride The Wave, view our pick-up and drop-off schedule and purchase tickets at http://rodeowave.eventbrite.com/. You can also contact The Wave at 713-863-9283 and check out or full music lineup on the Armadillo Palace’s Facebook page.
I hope to see y’all in your best boots at the Armadillo Palace this Rodeo season!
