July 12th marks a very important holiday for anyone who enjoys biting into a sweet, gooey forkful of pecan pie. It’s National Pecan Pie Day; a day that gives the gold standard of Texas dessert the recognition it deserves. Crafting the perfect pecan pie is something near and dear to our heart and something we don’t take lightly.
The perfect crust and the correct ratio of whole pecans to sweet molasses are both game-changing factors that elevate an average pie to a Goode pecan pie. Grandma Goode is the one responsible for perfecting this slice of Texas decadence. We still bake it the same way she did back in 1977, when we first opened Goode Company BBQ on Kirby Drive. Farm fresh eggs and whole hand-cracked Texas pecans gathered from the banks of the Brazos River are what set us apart from the others.
